The Wolf and The Butterfly: I Love Lucy...kinda
I watched so much I Love Lucy that when I see Lucy’s living room, my brain automatically, fleetingly, reads it as a cue that I’m home; displaced stage blocking, like it was my oven in which I purposefully burnt the toast to teach Ricky a lesson. If I’m at home already, my brain is like, now you’re more at home.
I also recall that during summer vacation, my sister and I would also fall asleep at 2 am, after our nightly Lucy marathons. Every summer. Every night. Except Friday, because they showed Andy Griffith instead. So then I waited for Fox’s Saturday marathon.*
When I told my lovely boyfriend last month that I was raised by I Love Lucy, he was like, “What’s that?” I yelled, YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT I LOVE LUCY IS, and the waitress in the nice restaurant looked over at our table, prompting him to scream YOU DON’T KNOW COUNTRY ROADS** and so I said EVERYBODY KNOWS LUCY and he said EVEN GERMANS KNOW JOHN DENVER so then we had sex on the table.
Incidentally, the following week, he was like, “Did you mean, I Love Lucy? I thought you were saying Isle of Loosy. Yeah, I know I Love Lucy. I love that show.”
I still don’t know Country Roads.
THE END***

I have been watching I Love Lucy non-stop for 5 days. I used to watch ILL with my older sister at 5am before school when we were younger. I’ve seen every episode more than once and know the plot to every one. Seeing her again is like seeing an old friend, a good friend, but good friends get…
